Conversion Rate
Conversion rate is the percentage of contacted leads that result in a desired outcome — typically a sale, appointment, or qualified transfer. It is calculated by dividing the number of “sale” dispositions by the total number of agent-handled contacts. Conversion rate measures the effectiveness of the sales process once a live conversation occurs.
How It Works in VICIdial
VICIdial tracks conversion rate through disposition codes flagged as “sale” statuses. When administrators create disposition codes, they mark which codes represent successful conversions. VICIdial’s reporting engine then calculates conversion rate by comparing sale-status dispositions against total agent-handled calls.
Conversion rate is reported at multiple levels: per campaign, per agent, per list, and per time period. Agent-level conversion reporting is particularly valuable for identifying top performers and agents who need coaching. List-level conversion data reveals which lead sources produce the most valuable contacts.
Factors within VICIdial’s control that affect conversion rate include agent scripting (configured on the campaign), transfer workflows (for multi-stage sales processes), callback management (for leads who need follow-up), and quality control processes that identify and correct weak agent techniques.
Why It Matters
Conversion rate is the ultimate measure of outbound campaign effectiveness. A campaign can have excellent contact rates and high calls per hour, but if conversion rate is poor, the operation is not producing results. Even small improvements in conversion rate have outsized financial impact — increasing conversion from 5% to 6% represents a 20% increase in revenue.
Conversion rate optimization involves agent training, script testing, quality control programs, and lead-to-agent matching strategies. VICIdial’s skills-based routing and agent ranking features can route higher-quality leads to higher-converting agents.
