Timeclock
The timeclock is VICIdial’s built-in time tracking system that records agent work hours, break times, and attendance. Agents clock in and out through the VICIdial interface, and the system tracks their total logged time, pause durations, productive time, and shift adherence for payroll and workforce management purposes.
How It Works in VICIdial
VICIdial’s timeclock is integrated into the agent login process. When enabled, agents must clock in through the timeclock before accessing the agent screen. The system records clock-in time, and all subsequent activity — campaign login time, call time, pause code time, and idle time — is tracked against the timeclock session.
Administrators can configure timeclock restrictions including: maximum shift length, mandatory break schedules, IP address restrictions (preventing clock-in from unauthorized locations), and user group-based schedule templates. The timeclock audit log provides detailed records of all clock events for each agent.
Timeclock reports generate payroll-ready summaries showing total hours worked, break time taken, overtime hours, and daily/weekly attendance records. These reports can be exported for integration with external payroll systems.
Why It Matters
For call centers managing large agent teams — especially with remote agents — the timeclock provides essential workforce accountability. Without integrated time tracking, organizations must rely on separate timekeeping systems that cannot correlate clock time with actual call center activity.
VICIdial’s timeclock advantage is its integration with call center metrics. Managers can see not just that an agent was clocked in for 8 hours, but how those hours were spent: actual call time, pause durations by reason, idle time between calls, and wrap time. This visibility enables accurate agent utilization analysis and schedule optimization.
