The rankings are predetermined. The “reviews” are rewritten feature lists. Nobody tells you what actually matters.

This article is different. We manage VICIdial deployments for a living, so yes, we have a bias — and we’ll be upfront about it. Answering machine detection deserves its own section because it’s the single highest-impact technology in predictive dialing — and the feature where platform differences create the biggest real-world performance gaps.

Here’s the problem: roughly 60-75% of outbound calls in 2026 go to voicemail. If your AMD misidentifies a voicemail as a live person, an agent gets connected to a recording and wastes 5-15 seconds before hanging up.
